EU Parliament bans menthol, targets e-cigarettes


European lawmakers approved sweeping new rules to curb smoking, including restrictions on electronic cigarettes, big warnings on cigarette packages and menthol is prohibited.
The European parliament in Strasbourg is voted on Tuesday after months of intense debate.
Parliament voted to implement the warning label to cover 65% of cigarette packaging, refused to a measuring blank packaging instead. Lawmakers also limit the new electronic cigarette ads, but there is no limit to only use their treatment. They voted to ban menthol in 2022, in other spices.
Tobacco lobbyists condemned proportion regulation and restrictions on freedom of consumers. European officials said to the benefits of the public health advocates, the cost of smoking related diseases around 25 billion euros ($34 billion) a year, about 700000 live in group composed of 28 countries.
