SK Hynix turns to profit on higher chip prices

South Korean chip maker SK Hynix said Wednesday it had swung to the first three months of this year from earlier this year due to higher chip prices.
Its net income reached 178.7 billion won ($ 159 million) in the January-March period, has won compared to net loss of $ 2.712 billion for the same period in 2011.
Sales increased 2% to 2.8 trillion won. Operating profit amounted to 316.9 billion won, compared with a 263.5 billion won loss a year earlier.
Hynix, thanks to PC chip prices higher, many other chip suppliers to shift production of mobile chips, limit supply of storage devices for personal computers.
The first quarter is typically a slow period, consumer electronics manufacturers, Hynix, sell more chips limited supply of personal computers and servers thanks to some of our competitors.
