Toyota, three other Japan carmakers to recall 3.4 million vehicles over airbag


Four Japanese carmakers, including Toyota Motor (7203.T: Quote), Nissan Motor (7201.T) and Honda Motor (7267.T: Quote) is recalling about 34,000 total global airbag due to a problem, the companysaid on Thursday.

Japanese auto parts maker Takata Corporation (7312.T) spokesman Feng Bo Ling Chuan said the company provided the recall airbag.

Toyota is recalling about 17,300 worldwide, including in North America and 580,000 units, 490,000 units in Europe, next to the front seat airbags because some drivers may not expansion, if necessary, spokesman Sakai Liang said.

No injuries or deaths were reported, he said.

Toyota will use the new inflatable, a solution is expected to take about an hour to two-and-a-half hours most models exchange failure, he said. But he refused to disclose the cost involved in the recall.

The Honda company said it is recalling about 1.14 million vehicles around the world. Nissan said it is recalling about 480,000 vehicles worldwide, Mazda Motor Corp. (7261.T) said it will recall about 45,500 vehicles.

Takada has been informed that the car manufacturer is recalling about 2 million worldwide, because it provides the airbag problem, but not the 3.4 million Hishigawa said. On Thursday, its shares fell 9%, 1,819 yen.
