Elon Musk, chief executive of TSLA.O, said reports that James Murdoch, the 21st Century Fox executive, was the hottest candidate to replace him as chairman of the company were untrue.
The outgoing 21st Century Fox CEO James Murdoch is the hottest candidate to replace Musk as chairman of Tesla, the Financial Times said Wednesday, citing two people familiar with the discussions.
Tesla needs to appoint an independent chairman by November 13, according to a settlement reached last month between Tesla, Musk and U.S. regulators. Musk said on twitter in August that he had been financed to privatize Tesla. The settlement agreement was reached on this matter.
