Trump is not yet ready to conclude a trade agreement with China.

U.S. President Trump said Wednesday that the United States is not ready to reach an agreement with China on trade disputes, but he said it will continue to negotiate.
Two of the world's largest economies have already imposed tariffs on their $50 billion worth of goods in a tit-for-tat trade war, and Trump is considering a further $200 billion tariff on Chinese goods.

"Our consultations with China have been very good, but we are not ready to reach an agreement in the way they want," Trump told reporters at the White House, but he did not elaborate on the details.
"We will continue to negotiate with China, and I have great respect for Chinese President Xi Jinping," Trump said. "But at present, we are unable to reach an agreement."
The United States is demanding that China improve market access for American enterprises and protect intellectual property rights, reduce industrial subsidies and cut its trade deficit of up to $375 billion.
China accuses the Trump administration of tough measures and calls for further consultations.
